Hi there!

Another beautiful species from Krym, Ukraine. Big violet beetle, probably from Carabidae family. This one has about 40 mm long, really bautiful coloured. Thanks a lot for more species information. Personally I had never seen such big beetle in Poland, this meeting was really exciting:).

Original picture taken as JPEG, original frame, just saturation and exposure added because of cloudy weather conditions. Picture taken in macro mode, hand held camera.

Hej Adrianie!
Bardzo fajna fotka! Zdecydowanie masz racje, to gatunek z rodziny Carabidae, a dokladniej z rodzaju Carabus. Dzis juz jest troche pozno, postaram sie cos wiecej z oznaczeniem powalczyc jutro.
A poki co, jesli nie masz nic naprzeciw, dodalbym te fotke do tematu Carabidae swiata :)

Hi Adriane,
A good clear shot of this Violet Gound Beetle.
It is never easy to get these in good focus. For some reason,the camera sensors don't seem to pick up these bluish blacks so well.
It would be good to see this from a low POV as well,but this shot is great as it is,especially for ID purposes.

Great macro shot and very good of sharpness.
Beatiful colours and good pov.
A pity that the legs were cut of beath and above.
Personally I will give that what more space.

Hi Adrian

Absolutely spectacular beetle and very well captured.
The macro show the sharp details and textures of the beetle superbly.
The colours are well saturated and the exposure is perfectly balanced.
This ensured excellent contrast of the black body of the beautiful beetle.
