[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I've been watching a couple of Elephant Hawk Moth Caterpillars munching their way through the Fuchsia that grows by the kitchen wall, and today, decided to photograph this one against the white wall. These guys are incredible in the sheer quantity of leaves that they eat, seeming to go non-stop all day munching away. I timed this one on how long it took to completely demolish one leaf from start to finish and he did it in just over 10 minutes.

Elephant Hawk Moth, Deilephila elpenor, named due to the similarity between the caterpillar and an elephants trunk. Common through out England.

Perfect portrait and details for this caterpillar.
The background is too white and bright to my taste. A natural background or some softer tones would have been more appropriate and resulted in an even beter shot.

Brilliant macro with superb sharpness, DOF and details of the caterpillar.
Brilliant composition, though I'm in two minds about the white background. Whilst it shows the caterpillar off really well, it doesn't look natural!!! Anyway, its a great shot.

The white BG makes it stand out really well.
