Hello Tom,
Very beautiful photo of one of my favourites. The pose with the wide-spread wing is very impressive. Great colours and excellent sharpness. Very good DOF and contrast against the BG.

Hi Tom
Wonderful in-flight capture of the impresssive African Fish-Eagle.
I really like the pose with the Eagle banking into the shot.
Excellent details and great colours.
I'm just watching the Masai Mara on the big Cat Diarys on TV moment, it looks like a great place to visit.

Tom Conzemius, Hi. Welcome back to TN and this is the second post with the bean bag as tripod I came across today. Both images are sharp and so pristine and looks like I should be getting one too. The full spreading wings in flight is by no means easy to shoot, The exposure and details are amazing with perfectly framed shot. Excellent work and have a wonderful week ahead. Warmest regards. Hi Tom,
It is truly amazing: I saw yesterday evening a program on the Geographic Channel about the development of the wing of the A 380 - based on the wing of an eagle in flight i.e. the wingtip is BENT UP to avoid vortex. Hence, the wing does not need be as long as originally thought.
After receiving your kind reply to my enquiry - I had a quick look at your photos - et voila, here is a perfect image of an African Eagle in flight - demonstrating the point...
Your photographic technique is truly perfect: to point the lens upwards at a bird at 11 a.m. and get a sky with some colour is VERY difficult, and has eluded me so far.
I was fortunate to observe this beautiful bird in the Okavango and hear the captivating cry. Unfortunately - in those days we used 35 mm slides, which in the Lowveld (35-40 C in the shade in summer) completely deteriorated...
Your photo is truly remarkable and compares with the best photos in specialised Eagle Books,
Kind Regards
Ingrid
