Hi Bob,
Wasps nests,or rather, the wasps on themused to freak me out majorly.
I fell in a couple of big nests in the Pacific isles.
Now I'm pretty much over it,lessen they get riled up some ;)
This is a cool capture of a paper wasp nest.
No ones home 'cept those eggses.
Cheers

Hello Bob,
I can imagine how well hidden this was behind the big Maple leaves earlier!! I hope you escaped attacks this last summer! Mind you, without the wasps you wouldn't have had this superb capture to show us :-) It looks really great with the bare thin twigs around it and the autumn leaves in the background. Great sharpness and lovely colours too!
Many thanks and best wishes, Ulla

Nice find Bob!
Great when one can come across the unexpected like this wasps nest and you managed to make a good combination with your original intention, the autumn leaves still in the maple tree. A great 3 megapix video still that has the quality of an DSLR.
I don't think I'll come across our local wasps nest but you never know!
Thanks and congratulations on having 10000 critiques. Look forward to many more,
Ivan

Hi Bob,
You must have been surprised to find this. That is quite a nest - you must have had swarms of wasps during the summer. No way you could have found it covered up with all the leaves. This picture tells quite a story of the changing seasons. Sort of like life - empty nest and the autumn of our lives. Just wonderful with colorful dying leaves and blue sky in the background.

Hi Bob,
a well deserved 20K too, your posts help lift TN from becoming just a 'hard fact' site, which although there is nothing wrong with that, it does make the whole place a bit more...cosy?!
Anyway, another great shot to add to your collection...keep it up mate, i think you probably underestimate your standing here. Oh, very well handled backlighting and DOF too..:o)

Hi Bob.
I like your creative idea, amazing selection of the scene for shooting. The main subject is simple enough. However, at such wonderful fall surroundings it looks greatly. As usual your note is wonderful. My best wishes.
Alexei.

You have been an inspiration to me in the short time that I have known you this this strange medium. You listen, tell, listen, speak, evolve, you my friend are a true star. 20,000 points ? more like 20,000 leagues apart from the rest.
The shot, well as ever colours with a story a click in time should be.

Hi Bob,
I've had an up close and personal experience with Wasps, whilst trimming a bougainvillea bush I disturbed the nest, the ensuing pain having been hit in the face, neck, shoulders and hands has given me a new appreciation of the little critters, and a new understanding of the threshold of shear pain.
This is a great shot, the colours are stunning, the backlighting is beautiful, really well composed, but you would not see me within 100miles of a nest let alone take a picture of it, I admire you courage my friend, and congratulations on reaching 20 thousand an amazing milestone.
All the best, Cheers Rick :)

hello bob,
very nice shot, these days the tn gallery is full with the shots of beautiful autumn and i am really enjoying it as we dont have that colorful autumn here.
this is a fine capture, one has to be very careful while shooting it, i liked the pov, the colorful bg and the composition, you have managed exposure well in difficult lighting condition, well done,
you are also close to crossing 20000 points and that means 10000 smileys, this number shows that 10000 times you have delighted your fellow tn members with your work, keep it up dear bob and its a pleasure having you here with us.
warm regards and congratulations once again.

Great shot Bob,
Love the fine detail along with those wonderful Fall colors! I spotted a hornets nest while in Penn. but it was only a few feet off the ground. I didn't have the nerve to climb under it for a shot in case the homeowners were still occupying it.
I'm sure you know the old legend that if the nest is built low to the ground it will be a mild winter, and if it's high up it will be a bad one.

Another fine fall scene from you Bob, that correctly exposed wasp's nest looks so beautiful against the autumn leaves of the maple tree and blue sky, the dried branch and twigs in semi-silhouette add to a perfect composition. I don't know, but taking the nest slightly off center to the left might even improve an already beautiful shot, what do you think my friend?
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hello Bob,
If I should have looked at the scene I should have sayed it is not possible to take a decent photo. You have prouved so well it is! The colors of the wasp nest have been rendered so well together with the leafs behind. Moreover the image of the best and the branch it is hanging on are shown with such a sharpness.
Congratulations,
Cristian

A good capture of the wasp nest which was hidden by the leaves. The details and colors of the nest are clear and precise. the subject is well frame. The colors are enhanced by the good light. Have a nice day.

Hi Bob
It looks like we have all been enjoying autumn this year. So far it has been a glorious autumn here in the UK. Joe's shot would take some beating for beauty but this has the interest factor. The workmanship in this nest is amazing. We done on getting such a clear shot and for handling the lighting issues so well. The backlit leaves make a great setting.
