Hi All,
I have been absent for a few days, but hope to be around more this week. This bull Elk was captured in the Suffield live fire range, he had a harem of 14 cows and was busy keeping them in a group. He must have fought hard for them as his right antler is broken off. There was another group of cows with a huge bull about a kilometer farther in the area, this guy may have been his adversary.

LDS? (*14 cows) Well a wonderful image at best....and nothing the least...A classic shot of a classy character. Very nice job in overall lighting Considering the high blue and clear day it could have been much harder...but you managed it well..and beyond all of that it sends me into the iconic mode...

Hi Rick,

Nice picture of this impressive Elk. Light, pose and colour are perfect.
I like the framing and all these shades of brown. Very well done.

Regards, Mario

Hi Rick,
Awesome shot...wonderful!
With that tiny catch light in his eye! The antler is fantastic. Only 14 cows though...that's a disappointment:-).
Seriously...the posture, the colors, the composition and so forth are very good.

Hello Rick

What a majestic capture of this wapiti. The composition is wonderful and really shows the strength of the animal.
The natural colours are beautiful.
Excellent POV and DOF.
I have seen these guys during the rut and it is a sight and sound to behold.
The screech of the bellowing through the woods is music to my ears.

I'm in love with wilderness, the taste and the feeling of it in your pictures. Ues the antler is broken and these beautiful beasts roam in the Prairie. How I wish to be amidst wilderness like you. When I go out, with Toupti, nobody shows up ;-)

Francine
