Underway from Pretoriuskop to Satara restcamp a car stopped us and informed us a male lion was spotted resting under a tree near the mazithidam (it is quite often people have a chat underway and inform about each others sightings that day ),after reaching this dam we saw this Lion indeed resting under a tree near the dam,but as there were some nice birds to observe and photograph,we decided to stop first for this, after some time looking and photographing these birds in this dam,my mother spotted some lioncubs passing the road to the dam to lessen their thirst, lion after lion passsed the road an in total we saw 22 lions (13 cubs,5 female and 4 male Lions)in the next 15 to 20 minutes around this dam,we were parked in a first class position to observe this sighting and managed to make lots of captures and as well a video (which I will post probably in due time on my website),this picture I have made with my 70-200mm lens and is uncropped (to give an impression how close we were),after they have had their drink they crossed the road again and dissappeared again,as you can understand we were quite happy with this sighting and were very happy to be at the right place at the right time, although it is a quite busy road I guess that only 4 or 5 cars have had the chance to see this, hope you like it as well.

Hola Paul,
beautiful moment and great capture,
is not easy to see this scene,
congratulations,
saludos

*forgot to tell you, your web site is beautiful,
excellent presentation and quality work...

Hallo Paul,
Gefeliciteerd!
Annick

Mooie plaat van de drinkende Leeuwen.

Hello Paul

This is a terrific capture,a dream shot really but a nightmare for some prey who would accidentally come face to face with this lot.
The details are sharp, and it is well focused.
I love the way they all crowd around as a group.
You were definitely at the right place at the right time.

Wow, Paul... I do believe this is some kind of record!
I have never seen so many lions so close together ever.
All sizes too... and all but one totally intent on their drinking.
What a fantastic moment you have captured.
Congratulations and TFS. : )
