Cooling Off for my esteemed friend Bob Shannon

This shot was taken on an early mid July morning. There were 2 fawns in the creek, but in typical wolf fashion I missed the perfect moment and settled for this one.The other fawn scrambled to the bank and hid in that very tall grass.
This is a small stream that I pass by daily, and is home to many species of birds, turtles, mink, raccoons, and muskrat. It is one of those rare places that is unspoiled by man's encroachment.
I dedicate it to my cyber friend Bob Shannon, who is a wonderful person, who encourages and aids others.
This is a photo that was taken, downloaded and nearly forgotten.I was looking through some RAW shots the other day and found it.It is a White-Tailed deer,Odocoileus virginianus, and they are very common throughout my area.I have seen herds of them in the autumn,as large as 50-100 deer. Each autumn they gather in what is known as "yarding".This is probably a winter defence mechanism, where there is safety in numbers.
I have a small herd of deer that live nearby, and it numbers between 13-20,and they drop by the back garden where I have a few old bales of hay,and some apples and carrots. They also like a mixture of corn and molasses, that is sold locally at the feed stores. One old farmer in the area has a commercial feeder set up that automatically spreads feed at certain times of the day.He says they really come running when they hear the sound of the corn pinging off the sides of the cylinder as it whirls around. It is an enjoyable past time watching these docile ,and peaceful creatures as they feed at the hay.A warm nuzzle from a small fawn can melt a cold winter heart.

Thanks for looking

Hello Wolf,
It's nice to see these animals in their habitat.
You applied the rule of thirds very well and thus acquired a well composed photo.
Well done

You are very cool rob...With me it's like "Chill"....but the images i welcomed as a nice dedication...I VERY MUCH appreciate when this happne and I am also humbled..

This is a image I would have taken many times over but only in the wilderness...had I thought of it...My mind was always on the landscapes, trees, mountains and stream...I frequently worried about the mammals on four... Maybe you are good luck for me..I think i may return ot the wilderness next year..not sure...but images such as this draw me in...I always think to myself..I can do that:-) Good, bad or not I love my wilderness..Your my hero guy!

I like this shot a lot WP. The two deer nestled in that natural habitat is my favorite type of wildlife photography. How lucky to live close to such a place. I suspect you are already thinking about collecting apples for winter?? : )
