[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Red Poppy is probably one of the most well known flowers in the world. It is, no doubt, one of my favourites along with Blue Cornflowers and White Chamomil - these flowers always call to my mind great summer memories.

Many notes has been already written about Red Poppy, so I will only write some quite interesting information about ancient people, of course ;-)

->Poppy as well known and used for ages (today archeologists often find poppy pods or drawings, reliefs or trinkets with poppy pattern).
-> Ancient people used poppy mainly for preparing opium. It is said that the Egyptian god Toth learned people how to do that. Opium was frequently used in religious ceremonies and as a remedy.
-> Poppy juice mixed with wine and honey was a kind of energy drink for ancient Olympic competitors.
-> In Greece was found a sculpture of goddess that looks as if she was high. She has a diadem of poppy pods on hear head.
-> Probably because of this “love” for opium poppy became a symbol of dreams and death and therefore was often a symbol of Gods of Death.
-> In eastern and middle Europe (in Poland for example) poppy have been thought to be great protection against vampires, ghosts and demons (just as garlic).
If there was a burial it was good to strew poppy seeds in the coffin, in the grave and all over the cementary - if the death person would like to walk as a ghost after burial and scary living men, it would feel great need to collect all the seeds first.
->People believed that the poppies grow on the blood of killed warriors (today we also have a poppy as a symbol of killed soldiers)
-> It was a symbol of death of innocent people and therefore it became the symbol of re-birth cause there were belief that such people will have another life.
-> In my part of the Europe Poppy seeds are very often an ingredients of holiday meals. It is remain of ancient tradition of feeding ghosts of death with poppy seeds.

And I will end the note here. Maybe there will be another ocassion to write something more about this very intersting and beautiful plant.

On my photo you can see a Red Poppy that grows on the bank of my pond (you can see a water in BG). There was strong wind this day and I wasn't sure if the photo would't be blurred, but I think the result looks quite good.

Now, this is what I call very good note Monika ;-) Poppy looks fragile, I know how hard it is to capture, especially on wind. Great colour and composition. Title is little masterpiece - one simply question in title but it could be good start for a long story.

The notes are brilliant. The wind really makes this shot work well, the grasses blowing adds to the overall effect. Great composition, wonderful colours and nicely detailed.

Very interesting note and the photo is unique, so even though we've all seen photos of poppies, this one's background, point of view and moment captured make it interesting and engaging. Nice one, Monika!
