Quick and painless death or slow and agonizing death???
Just my thought when I encountered this ant which is suffering from parasite probably the digenetic trematode. Being eaten alive, well Im not sure how painful is that and how long this process can be completed. I already observed this ant for about an hour of suffering. After taking picture, I went to other location for my routine macro shooting (that was 4 hrs) when I went back to its location, geez... poor little fella still struggling that imminent death??? Too bad, I can't do anything but watched this ant helplessly. The motion blurred was captured intentionally just to emphasized the painful movement of the ant.

Camera set-up:
20D, Tamron 180 attached with Raynox250 close-up filter, f22, ISO400, 580EX.

I have a similar picture for this incident.

Hello Leo,
a geat macro-shot in that you achieved admirable sharpness just of those parts of the insect
which are important for the viewer. It's nearly impossible to get the entire ant in good focus.
Best wishes, Peter

very appropriate exposure time. Very sharp where it should be. Excellent motion blur. The parasitism is clairly shown this way.
