Three coyotes for Jane

I haven't heard from Jane lately,I hope all is well.
These coyotes were taken in February of 2007,and I was looking through an old archive of shots and decided to dust it off and let it see the light of day.
Jane always remarks that our coyotes look bigger up here, and it is a scientific fact that they are larger and more robust than their southern counterparts.
Many species of mammal and bird are larger the further north you go.
With coyotes and wolves, the thick fur they grow in Winter also gives an additional larger appearance.
The coyote population is growing in the area, and I am seeing and hearing them much more frequently now.
Thanks for stopping by.

This trio look so magnificent in their winter coats! I love the lower point of view and the eye contact. The composition is superb with the two and one placement, the bit of snow and the wonderful winter woods behind. Where did you take this??

Evelynn : )

Hi Wolf,
such an attractive group of coyotes with a very good point of view.Your note makes me happy that these animals are making a come back in Ontario and quite rightly so as the balance of natural needs them.I have heard them referred to as Eastern Red Coyotes as well as Northern Coyotes.I have very few coyote photos and none are near enough for any real decent detail unlike this rather well coloured and detailed shot.It is for sure that they know you are watching them and yet they do not seem to mind.An excellent winter scene and well worth sharing with us all, thank you. Bob

It might be the squinty eyes...or well no not the level it is the level you shoot here..but something about this feels real cold..There is sun...but one gets an idea projected from the image that it might be a tough winter....I hope it is all in nature an endurable....but it comes....such is life. I realize the timing of the photo isn't accurate with today...but something made you choose this one for today...you can feel it too I'll bet...

Hello Wolf, a superb shot of these coyotes and perfect composition. Great dedication to Jane too.
TFS and G's,

Ciao Wolf,
bellissima cattura di questo piccolo branco di coyotes, eccellenti POV dal basso e composizione che esaltano la posizione dominante, bellissimi ambientazione e lo sguardo diretto degli animali, ottima definizione, molto belli e naturali i colori.

Beautiful shot!!! They are gorgeous creatures.
People lure them and kill them around here because of the livestock. We've encroached so much on natural habitats...well, I'm preaching to choir, I'll bet.
Your coyotes are much bigger and healthier looking than the ones around here.

Great shot!

Great pov and composition. The colours and lighting are superb also.

They do look big actually. Almost wolves.... I'm happy you mentioned they are coyotes.
Pretty cold out there as their eyes are almost closed. Don't know whether that's an indicator though..

wow the two Coyotes on the right have the same stare on there faces. Very powerful photo. I agree, they look very beautiful in there winter coats. I really like the composition and the DOF in this shot. Great image.
