[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Autumn is a very nice season here in my region. Nice weather keeps long time but temperatures drops down. Even so butterflies continue to fly during sunny days till late October. The day I took this photo was no exception.

I was walking on the grasslands from Tampa mountain at more than 800m altitude. The dominant color was light brown as most of the grasses were dry. Suddenly I saw a butterfly flying at small height over grasses than quickly setting down. I fallowed it but when getting near he flew away. Itís flight was slow and it was obviously making efforts to keep flying. Soon it sat down. Butterfly had no more force to go away. It remained resting in the sun even when I got close. It was an old female of Issoria lathonia.

I felt this old butterfly with broken wing was the image of autumn. This is why, even not looking well, I took this photo.

Hi Cristian,
This beautiful creature sure had a rough summer. It looks tired but remains a lovely specimen. You captured excellent details and even if its environment is busy, it stands out well from the dry vegetation. Your notes are interesting too. I didn't see many butterflies this year and I was sad about it. Well seen!

Ciao Cristian,
bellissima cattura di Issoria lathonia, ottima composizione con la bella posa a terra, eccellente nitidezza che evidenzia bene l'usura delle ali, magnifici i colori e molto bella anche l'ambientazione.
TFS.

Great focus, detail, color, and exposure Cristian..
Some might call the BG/FG busy, I will call it its natural, grassy habitat :)
Good placement in the frame too.
I agree, the older b-fly represents not only the end of the season, but the "Autumn" of life itself.
Well seen & captured!
Howard
