[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Winter is here with low temperatures and snow covering part of the areas around the town. In the last two weeks I have made several trips in my area but I was not able to take any interesting photo. Therefore I looked into my archive.

I found a photo made on one of my favorite “play grounds”, my friend’s huge garden. On a small part of the garden vegetables as cabbage and cauliflower are cultivated. All summer and autumn butterflies from Pieridae family are flying over. As they are very common I gave no special attention to them.

Once I decided to take a photo of one of them. To my surprise I found out it was not at all easy. Butterflies were moving quickly and did not allow me to get too close. Only after a long time I was able to take this photo of a Artogeia rapae male.

It will be a project for the next year to do as many photos as possible of these common butterflies.

The background is so intense in this picture that the light-coloured Cabbage butterfly just jumps out at the beholder, Cris.
Such wonderful contrasts are rarely seen.
I like the colour of the flower on which the Cabbage White is perched. The dappled shadows on the butterfly's wings also make this image very natural.
I think the bud at the bottom can be cloned off, but that is just an opinion.
Thanks and regards.
PS:Could not resist a workshop. Hope you forgive me for it.

Hi Cristian,
Excellent macro with amazing coloured BG. Shadows on the wings are also splendid. Great in all around. I liked the composition too.
TFS and have a nice day!

Hello Cristian,
Excellent closed-wing capture of a Small White taken from a great POV with fine sharpness and light management. I also like the composition on the blue Lucern flower against a fine OOF contrasting natural BG.
TFS this fine image,
Best regards,

Ciao Cristian, beautiful pieridae well reprised with difficult light, wonderful natural colors, fine details and splendid sharpness, great composition with beautiful flower and lovely blurry BG, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Cristian,
Nice shot with some great details. The b-fly stands out well in your frame.
One piece of advice I picked up early on TN was "shoot, shoot, and shoot some more".
Things somehow have a way of getting better with practice :)
Well done & TFS,

Hello Cristian, good composition, very sharp focus on the head and fantastic background. A bit of OE on the wings maybe, thanks!

Ciao Cristian,
bellissima cattura con uno stupendo OOF BG scuro che esalta i colori delicati della Pieris rapae, mi piace molto la composizione con le ombre del fiore che disegnano una bella silhouette sulle ali riprese con ottima definizione.

Hello Cristian,
This is a picture we have to come back several times to see what your eye had seen at the moment of clicking..being very sensitive to fine colors and combination of colors, this picture is very attractive for my eye. Amazing also to find out, if there wasn't the fine grey of the buttefly's eye, there would be something missing. And the shapes of shadow on the wing are also interesting.
Un grand merci donc

Hi Cristian,
beautiful lighting in this shot, i very much like the shadow of the flower on this Buttefly. Great details and excellent DOF. Love the background too, it contrats nicely against the white of the main subject.

Hi Cristian
I like the contrast here. White butterfly on dark brown homogenous background. Expsore is almos good - maybe you could use little higlights reduction. lso nice field guide POV
