Great shot with the snow in the foreground and awesome cascade behind.
Well controlled exposure and good DOF.
Nice work.
Cheers

A judicious choice of medium, Niek. In this kind of a picture, the contrasts between black and white would be marked, so the medium works well here.
The details on the rocks too are sharp.
We do not see much of you on TN these days.
Hope you would continue to share your wonderful landscapes regularly.

Hi Niek!
I'm glad to see you back! And I also notice that you still are under the influence of your trip to Norway. I can understand this... Your picture is fine and I believe you have made the best under the difficult light conditions. The subject also suits the black&white conversion very well. It probably won't be as effective and beautiful in colour. It's a simple picture, without great effect, yet very pleasant and so typical for that beautiful country.
Kind regards
Markus

Hi Niek,
i am very glad to see you back here...your presence is sorely missed my friend. I hope you can manage to spare some more time for your passion soon. Your choice of B & W is perfect, really. The contrast of snow and rock made this a good decision on your part. However, the POV you chose is what really makes this a good shot. I feel as if i were stood there looking up at this waterfall. DOF is excellent. Well done, come back soon!

(the CS3 mono conversion is very good isn't it?)
Hi Niek
Nice to see you drop by from time to time...sorry you only have time for that now :(
This is another very interesting B&W conversion and one i could learn a thing or two after a close examination. I remember you other post of this waterfall, but i also like this composition, too. I love the ice in the FG and the way it holds its own weight in that part close to he center of the frame...makes it look like a bridge; a very beautiful FG element.
The waterfall surely looks wonderful and having converted everything to B&W gives the place a better contrast and sets these two elements aside the rest in the frame.
Very nicely done!
Bravo and TFS
Horia
PS: sorry you can't make it for our meeting :( but have a nice time in the US!

Hi Niek,
I think B & W was a good choice. I think B & W works well when a landscape has a lot of detail... which this does. All the different textures, even in the snow, look good. You managed a nice range of values. I like the composition. Without that high contrast snowy patch leading to the waterfall the image wouldn't have essential impact. I love the irregular edge to the snow.

Hello Niek,
First of all thank you so much for visiting my gallery and your wonderful comment. I really enjoy you gallery full of beautiful scenery photographs of the area that I don't know too much about. I like the essence you capture here. The black and white is a good call, since there is probably not much color here with the snow and waterfall and rocks. I liket he texture of the rocky foreground and the the inclusion of the snow add some interesting shape and make a better composition and give much detph to your image. Thanks for sharing.
