[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Well known garden pond visitors:

After my parasite post it had to be something more uplifting; well, how about a Dragon fly? It's a 45 mm long male of the Four-spotted chaser (Odonata; Libellulidae; Libellula quadrimaculata L.; Vierfleck). To me the shot rekindles memories of summer.

ID: no problem here with "K. Dijkstra & R. Lewington, 2006, Dragonflies" as a guide. The white venation on the basal dark patch on the hind wing is diagnostic. The species is migrating, occurs in much of temperate Eurasia and America.

Hi Dietrich,
Excellent close up.Exposure is spot on,focus couldn't be better.POV,sharpness, clear details and BG are wonderful.
Thanks for posting.

Hi Dietrich,
Also versuch ich stets mein Glück handgehalten - also Glückwunsch, erstklassiger Schuß, Danke und Gruß

Hi Dietrich,

An excellent shot. Before reading your note, I figured that this was perhaps a female, as many of the Libellulas have the bluish/white patches on the wings in the males, but this species apparently doesn't have that sexually dimorphic trait.

Hi Dietrich,
This looks great. Excellent macro skills and an attractive dragonfly. A lovely and interesting view angle. Very good details and clarity, as well as nice lighting and an even exposure.
TFS and cheers my friend.

Hello Meyerd,
I'm very fond of L. quadrimaculata and look forward to beeing them on the wing again! Only 5 months to go! :-( In the meantime I'm very pleased to see your very fine capture taken in beautiful light and showing sharp details and natural colours. I like the angle of the wings and the composition too.
Interesting to hear about the 'Breadbox' theory. Let me know if you find out more about it!
TFS and all the best wishes, Ulla

Ciao Dietrich, beautiful colorful composition with fantastic dragonfly, fine details and splendid sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hallo Dieter!

Markus
