One more photo from my day at the National Park Drents-Friese Wold. This was really then end of my photo shooting day at the park.

The sun had set, the temperature dropped and I started to get hungry.

I think I've written enough about the park and the area so this time more about the photo. Also because its an HDR. I used a 0.9 ND and a 0.9 Nd grad to stop down and balance the exposure. I bracketed the photo resulting in a 6 sec, 12 sec and 25 sec exposure. All taken at F/16. The HDR and tone mapping was done in Photomatix with minimal settings.

Very attractive evening landscape with the light just enough to reflect the silhouettes of the trees and the reddening sky on the surface of placid water, Niek.
You have controlled the exposure very deftly in this rather difficult shot.
Well done and TFS.

Hello Niek,

Great capture.
Beautiful colours with fantastic definition.
Lighting and composition are excellent.
Good notes.

Wonderful moment, Niek, we can see the water is frozen a little and the sky is beautiful.
Thanks, greetings

Hallo Niek,
Goede scherptediepte in jouw werk en wat belangrijker is, een aangename diepte door die waterlijn die een mooie boog maakt naar de achtergrond toe.
Kleuren zijn natuurlijk gehouden.
Bedankt
Annick

Hi Niek

A very beautiful and interesting experiment here form you, my friend! I see that first Paul, then myself and now you have given Photomatix a first glimpse :) Should this mean it is Evelynn's turn now? :)

Anyway, this is a very nice and natural result for a HDR. I, too, tried to keep the tone mapping to the minimum when i gave it a go and i see you chose the same here. The result is a very well balanced exposure-wise image, with very good highlight and exceptional shadow details. I'm leaning more in favor of the shadow details here because of the nice textures and great sharpness of the FG.
The composition is also very nice and again the bank of the water - with its nice curve - leads the eye towards the beautiful tree silhouettes on the horizon and from then on to the small (but evident) clouds in the sky (at which the motion is well captured).
Overall, gorgeous work, my friend!

Bravo and TFS

Hi niek

Nice shot, and very good use of photomatix. It looks very natural and you would never tell that it was a hdr shot.
Beautiful atmosphere makes me feel a little bit shivery just looking at it.

Hello Niek,
HDR its a interesting tecnica. Good results.
Regards.
Ferran.

This is the first HDR Photomatix that I've seen that doesn't look overdone in some way. Nice work! I love that long sweeping curve and the detail in the foreground. The colors are wonderful.

Evelynn : )

This is a much cooler shot of the same scene, nicely done! I think I like this shot better vertical, you've done a good job on the HDR work, you can't even tell that it is an HDR image. Nicely done.

Hi Niek, at first look I thought it must be a Pacific island at sunset.
I lve the colours and especially the reflections. And the silhouettes of the trees look perfect,

Hi Niek,
You apply the HDR technique very well. Each of the exposures seems to be very well controlled and the result is very good. I like the light, color tones and POV. TFS
All the best,
Selen

Dear Niek!

I can't be long, I'm at a winter camping in the Alps where I spend a week of holidays with ski hiking tours. The internet connection in the camping only works from time to time and is very slow.

I just would like to thank you for your friendship and your fidelity and hope that the new year will be full of deep emotions for you. May all your dreams come through!

See you soon on the net!

Markus

Hallo Niek,

Hi Niek

Another neat shot of your day in the Drents-Friese Park.
I like the composition and the way you split the 1/3 zones.
The triangle formed by the grassy shore which also acted as a lead-in to the shot.
The reflective water surface which resulted in a near triangle and has the interesting smooth area where most of the sunset is reflected.
And finally the multiple layered sky which occupied the top 1/3.
Good use of available light to present a well balanced image.

My best wishes to you and your loved ones for a fabulous 2009.

Well done and TFS
Regards
Loot

Hi Niek,
i wonder why you chose to use HDR here, as i think you could achieve the same result easily using more traditional methods. Anywhow, it is beautifully done, and the chosen POV creates massive depth. Colours, and sharpness are excellent throughout, well done.
Paul
