I looked for in the Web and that phenomenon in the vertebrates denominates " heterocromía iridium" , something similar happens to this mantis but I do not believe that it is the same effect. To this I found mantis it when it was cutting to small branches of poplar buds that grew in front of a electric energy measurer, while it worked in a very very small village that is called Zenón Videla Dorna. I captured so it and I took it to house where I mounted a study in the laundry. I cut a branch of a native plant that I gathered in the field and I planted in my garden, a malvceae, Spheralcea bonariensis and like bottom a rower mine. There I made several takings that I will be raising in the future. I released soon it in the same plant of Spheralcea where it was two days and I take more photos to him; soon I did not see more it: or one flew or the birds ate…
Well I do not tire more. I hope you like it; I´m always been thankful by their commentaries

Hola Hernan,
Colors, contrast, the use of the flashlight, neat background and POV look very good.

A very powerful portrait of this mysterious insect. A very strong sharpness dominated the overall shot. It's one of the best mantis looks I've ever seen captured.

TFS and best wishes for the New Year!

Hola Hernan!
What a fantastic close-up and portrait of mantis! I like it very much! :) Great to see pictures like this one :)
Sharp, detailed, very colourful and optimistic :)
TFS and ALL THE BEST IN 2009 my Friend!

I've never seen this by any insect. Very interesting. Very unique. A great contribution to TN.
Sharp and detailed.

Would have been even beter with a natural background.

have you notice the white spot on the head. This doesn't belong to a normal mantis. Was it kind of lice?
