Thanks for looking at my image yesterday and for the critiques of course. This is my new upload...

I've been looking for this bird of prey's identification in the 'Map of Etosha' and through Google's and Yahoo's image search engine.
No match.

It's taken near Solitaire at the start of trip 4: Solitaire(big city with always room for a delicious apple pie:-) to Swakopmund(Atlantic ocean). Distance between 250 and 300 km.

Actually I expected more from this shot. The bird deserved more somehow. But the light wasn't very good that particular morning. Consequently the ISO rate was quite high, 640 or so. So this in addition to the overexposure which is quite obvious here..
The image is a crop. Critiques are very welcome...open season and no hard feelings;-)

Thx to Ralf(Ralfsworld)
This is probably a Black-chested snake-eagle or in German a Schwarzbrust-Schlangenadler.
And it was also listed in the map with the birds of the Etosha National Park. Take into account this isn't Etosha...

So simple, yet so beautiful, both aesthetically and technically Annick, the fine product of an expert, no doubt!

Hi Annick
It looks like Blackbreasted Snake Eagle - Circaetus pectoralis. I have few pictures of same or similar raptor captured in Kenya and Tanzania.

Excellent shot of this raptor. great composition and clear details Annick. TFS. Regards,

Well done Annick!
Ralf's right: I checked this fine shot with my old Newman's book and it is a Black-breasted Snake Eagle (Circaetus gallicus) and I can just make out the dark chest feathers from this POV. The pose is great and technically excellent as ususual. Fine simple composition.

Hi Annick,
Fantastic pose and the perch. You have ghandled well the difficult exposure. As usual composition, sharpness, details are all excellent.:)
Thanks for the share,

Hallo Annick,
Toch niet slecht hoor. Ik ben er als roofvogel liefhebber jaloers op. Zeker weten een Black-chested Snake-eagle, circaetus pectoralis, Zwartborstslangenarend. Schitterende foto toch in een erg goede compositie gezet.
