Hi all!

This blue impression also comes from my favourite River Ärgera near my home. At this place, the river is about 700m above the sea level and in winter it's often partially frozen. The thickness, the quality and the colour of the ice depend not only on the number of cold days, but also on the waterflow and the amount of water. Moreover, the colour is influenced by factors like the underground, the environment, the weather and the humidity in the air when the water froze.

This small ice surface has been created far from the principal waterflow and it covers a small, almost dry afflux. It's very thin and formes a fine cover over the stones of the riverbed.

Before I took the picture, I stayed there for a while staring at it. And, although I'm not very musical, I associated it with some smooth classical music. Don't know why...

Kind regards

Hi Markus. Each one you show us seems to get better. I must say i just love the cold blue colour in the ice. With beautiful shapes and paterns. very good use of thelight to give it all a sparkle. Well Done. TFS.

A fine, abstract shape in blue & white Markus, which clearly shows that under the direction of nature's hand even plain ice transcends to a form of perfection. Good close up photography my friend!

Bonsoir Markus,

hello Markus!

Hi Markus,

I just commented on Bob's picture - you two have taken us into another world today with your wonderful shots. Such beautiful blues with the marvelous patterns and swirls. It also reminded me of those computer programs that show patterns like this as music is playing.

Hello Markus,
Another fine ice capture, the smooth concentric flowing patterns giving a sense of harmony, which may give the melodious feeling that you describe. I fine the blue fascinating too, not blue because of the depth here, but more because of the algae on the bottom and the refection from the sky. Fascinating to stare at and thanks for sharing it.
Have a good week,

Hi Markus,

We do not have ice in our rivers as our winters are not so cold so this "Art in Nature" can not be seen by us. Interesting and I am sure that the shapes that nature makes can stir our minds. I find it interesting the way you have used light to enhance the image.

Hello Markus,
Beautiful lines throughout the image. Good notes.

Lieber Markus,
Wunderschön, was Du alles in der Aegera entdeckst!
A bientôt

Hi markus.

This is a really nice ice abstract! Probably my favourite one of yours so far. The different shapes, colours and contrasting textures are really beautiful, i have never seen ice quite like this.

Hello Markus,
Wonderful blues and patterns in this lovely capture! I'd guess the ice is very thin and brittle here as that's when you tend to get these beautiful patterns. I expect there was a lovely blue sky too! Brilliant work!
Many thanks and regards, Ulla

Hi Markus,
A nice capture of this abstract of frozen waves. A lovely composed image with beautiful colors. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi markus

Hi Markus

I've been meaning to congratulate you for this one for some time now, but didn't have too much free time :(
This is probably one of your best ice macro/abstracts so far here! I really live pretty much everything about it: the curvy lines, their placement in the composition, the circle in the middle, the rocks that are visible under the layer of ice and the color of it all.
I've been searching for such textures here, too, but didn't have much luck. Even so, i'm very happy to see you've found some and took such a great photo of it. You've put a smile on my face!

Bravo and TFS

I love the colours and wavy patterns here Markus. Very smooth, and the colours remind me of Paua shells - aboline I think you might call it.
Quite beautiful

Hi Markus,
Wow........so beautiful and so pleasing. Great work of art and you have captured it with utter precision. Simply majestic and I agree this actually relates to the softness and melody of classical music. Outstanding composition.

This is indeed a symphony! How do you do this, I wonder!
Very well done!

Hello Markus,

Interesting notes.
I just love the artistry in this shot.
It is so beautiful and can be interpreted in so many different ways: as you say, musically, abstract art, a pulsing heart, the contours on a map, puddles disturbed by the breeze, .... wonderful!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Markus,
This is indeed a nice of piece of "music"...classical, symphony that blends smoothly texture and colours and one which has been presented i composition by your creative discerning eyes.

Tha patterns formed by freezing ice over water looks much like a smooth stroke of brush over the blue canvas. The speckles add to the effect of the look that almost resemble a gallaxy of stars.
Thank you for sharing another interesting piece of work and your thoughts that translated into this composition.

Hello Markus,
This is so interesting and you captured it perfectly. Good note. TFS.
Best Regards,

Ciao Markus,
Bellissima.
Grazie e complimenti.

Lieber Markus,
das kleine stille Schweizer Flüsschen Ärgera gerinnt bei Dir zu George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, performed by Leonard Bernstein & the New York Philharmonic!

Nature surprises us curiosity of form often and colors, it unis possible to overlook it. It is necessary to immortalize it, one compose symphony other sculpture but photos make else other, for example, such pretty as your.
It congratulates and I salute .

Hello Markus !
Another one of these beauties from you ! I love the blue symphony here, and the lines are splendid too, beautiful curves, nice play of light, wonderful composition. You really have an eye to spot beautiful ice formations, I'm sure most people (including myself :-) would walk by without even seeing them. You're very talented ! Very well done !

i love blue

You have an extential perspective and view through your camera that very few photographers have. Your gallery shows that very extraordinary point of view. If you have, or have had, a gallery showing of your portfolio I am sure you would be a tremendous success.
