Since it is -1 F out side this morning I thought I would post a photo of one of my favorite summer time friends, the Silver-spotted Skipper. This is an easy butterfly to see in the summer time in our area of the United States. This was taken during one of my butterfly monitoring days at a local fen.

From Wikipedia:

The Silver-Spotted Skipper (Epargyreus clarus) is a butterfly of the family Hesperiidae. It is claimed to be the most recognized skipper in North America.

The wingspan of an adult is 43–67mm. The adult has translucent gold spots on the forewings and silvery bands on the hindwings.[2]

The caterpillar's head is large and brown with two orange dots mimicking eyes. It has a long, narrow, green body.

Hallo Bob
This is a great close-up, with even greater colours, and the details are very clear and well displayed. Here I specifically refer to the shine on the wings and the lovely combination of colours being chocolate brown, rustic brown and white all in one. A sunny and cheerful image. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards.

Hello Bob
the butterfly and little colorful flower are perfectly in focusing on a background much neutral that puts in prominence the depth of the photo. Optimal contrast and clear details.

Hello Bob,
Fantastic clear photo in splendid colours and great sharpness. The POV is excellent. Very good DOF against a bit noisy OOF BG. Good composition.

słońce w pełni oświetliło Epargyreus clarus tak pięknie, że można policzyć włoski na nogach owada. Jest to zasługą bardzo dobrego DOF. Ładna jest też perspektywa (POV) zdjęcia.
Gratuluję i pozdtawiam

Great shot of this butterfly! You need to teach some of the other people around here how to do macros -- everything in yours is nice and sharp! Gary
