Nannospalax nehringi - Körfare [TR], Nehring's Blind Mole Rat [EN] is one of three species groups of the family SPALACIDAE (Mammalia: RODENTIA) in Turkiye. They have polychromosomal forms and so, recently devided into many species. I will not tell scientific notes here. I can say this rodent is common in Anatolia, except some coastal parts of BlackSea and Mediterranean. It has a simple cylindrical body without external ears, eyes and tails. But its ears are very sensitive and so it dosent need eyes since its perfect hearing capability.
This animal live underground galeries and rarely appear on ground surface.
You can also see this rat from one of my earlier posts (photo).

Most important thing that they are favourite animals of my close friend Mustafa Sözen (spalaxtr) whose nickname originated them:) I dedicate this post to him.

The photo was taken under bad light near evening's dusk in rainy weather. Camera's original flash was used, but this is not enough since focal lenght of 5.5 m. So, distance was about 6 m. I hope you will like it.
Thanks for visiting.

How strange to see a mammal without eyes or ears at all.
I have never seen this extraordinary species before.

Hi Ahmet.
Excellent shot of the species. I have met similar one at once. I approached to it very silently and looked as it gnawed a plant directly at my foots. Unfortunately, I did not have a camera. You are luckier and managed to take so nice picture and share it with us. Many thanks and TFS. Well done.
Alexei.

This is amazing creature Ahmet! I always wanted to see this species alive in the nature. How did you find it? As I know it does not like open areas and strongly prefer underground world :)
Watching pictures like this one I can say only one thing - 1st class work! And please show us more so great documentary captures :)

By the way, this year I'm planning to see also your part of Aegean Sea as in August a field trip to W Turkey is planed :>

And last but not least, I am really very happy that you returned to TN, as in recent day so many good photographers and Friends decided to leave TN... Nice to see you again Ahmet!
Greetings from Lodz,
Radomir

Hi Ahmet,

What an amazing creature..you have been lucky to see this creature living mainly in the underground. Nature really adapts well to the environment.
Great contribution!

Merhaba Ahmet Bey
Today seems to be a Mammal's day out for me as i have come across some interesting ones during my critiquing today.Bank Vole,Dwarf Mongoose and here is another one...with a fitting name Blind Mole Rat...

Despite the poor lighting conditions, the rain and focal length and all your problems, i have to say this is one adorable life you show us.I think that open mouth pose just does the trick. And good details emerge highlighting those whiskers.I rather like the soft lighting here as it falls on your subject's fur creating a smooth effect. The green adds a very fine element to the whole composition complimenting the colour of the Rat in a nice contrast.

All in all a very loveable capture rounded off by a well written piece of note.I am delighted to add this to my unforgettable favourites.

Pleasure Viewing This:)
Cheers
Silpa
P.S:
1)Nice dedication
2) The previous post makes this one more loveable

Assalamu alaikum Akhi Ahmet,
thanks for your critique on my Tn posts.
Really appreciate it.
Wow this shot is really special. The uniqueness of the creature cannot be decribed.
Well taken with lovely green blurry background, and the fur is sharp and clear.
Well presented low angle capture.

Foozi
