Ahh, very cute, will it bite me? I think I know hte answer. Grrrreat stuff Gerhard. Gorgeous portrait and as usual you've gone the extra mile and produced a craking note. Very well done.
Foul, Unfair! I love this cat, and have not one single picture, You know how to cut me deep, Gerhard!
Red-eye in people, green eye in animals, it is the same thing. Some programes have a red-eye fix. I use black to clone over the green. Just go to any picture with suitable black, get the right size pixel, Alt and right click mouse, new window with green eyes, and rightclick. It takes a bit time, but if you use the magic lasso you can select it, I do not know how. Mooi nota, en wanneer stel jy my voor aan hierdie rooikat!?
Groetnis tot later

Those eyes remind me of the cat in Shrek II. They are there to make you think "Shame its harmless" but surprise, surprise this kitty packs a punch. Beautifully packaged post as usual.

Very nice gerhard nice to see something other than a lion etc ))). the ear tufts give it away as a lynx, this one looks nice and alert puddy, intresting scratches on the nose though.
These are magnificent cats. I have never seen one in the wild, only in the zoo. Beatiful photo. A good explenation on the red-eye green-eye topic have a look at the following link.

Nice portrait of this 'cat' together with a good note.
The eyes of this Caracal are captivating.
From what I know about the caracal, I know that it is very rare and from what I read here above, the capture of one is even rarer. That alone makes the picture very exceptional and hard to make. The picture could use a bit of sharpness, but that's only due to the small light intensity. About the green eyes: I'm no expert, but I think it has something to do with the composition of the eye itself. We humans have eyes for daylight, most cats hunt at night, so they have eyes adapted to the dark. If you approach a normal house cat in the dark with the carlights on, you will see two green lights flashing back (we call reflectors on bikes also "katogen"). I assume that for the flash the same thing goes. Erasing the green in the eyes would make the picture better.
The caracal is a very beautiful animal (seen on photo, no chance in seeing that over here ;-)) and the capture is very well succeeded. Bravo for the picture and to make callie jealous (I didn't know there were animals he didn't have yet).
Afgaande op jullie kleine discussie, zie ik dat jij ook Suidafrikaans spreekt. Een Vlaming begrijpt dat ook, dus ik wens jullie nog veel succes in de kattenjacht (maar wel met de camera astemblief).

What a great looking animal!! Looks like the eyes are edging toward half-mast & the face seems to show an intangible aloofness. I like the effect(eyes)myself that your flash has produced. To me it adds an other-worldly quality. My wife says I'm strange at times..Hope I didn't just give it away!!
