[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
San Luis Lakes State Park is in southern Colorado in the San Luis Valley. The San Luis Valley is a high elevation desert valley that receives less than 5 inches of moisture per year. The valley is also a sparsely populated valley. It is surrounded to the east by the Sangre De Cristo Mountains and to the west by the La Garita Mountains.

The San Luis Lakes State Park is a small state park in Colorado and is one of the few bodies of water in the San Luis Valley (outside of the Rio Grande River)

This photo shows a part of the lake looking at the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, it was windy so I couldn't get any reflections in the water, but I made do without
I have posted photos of the Sangre De Cristos from the east on this site before, this is them on the western side, visible is Crestone Needle, Crestone Peak, Kit Carson Peak and Challenger point, all 14,000 foot mountains. What amazed me was how little snow there was on the mountains, this has been a bad year for snow in Colorado, alot of our mountains are bare of snow already and March is typically the snowiest month of the year in Colorado.

Hé Paul, this is wonderful, what a nice landscape! I just love the colours, like a subtle rainbow. The mountains at the foreground, lit by the morning or evening light. You might not have a reflection on the water but the colour of the water is so beautiful and in a subtle tone. It's the contrast between the light and the shadow in your picture that is beautiful. I also like very much the middle line of gold and the amazing amount of detail. You shoot in raw, don't you?

Very attractive picture in two colours -- the blue lake in the foreground and the yellowish brown of the area beyond the lake.
The image is well composed.
The snow covered mountains look very impressive, bathed in golden sunlight.
Well done and TFS.

Hi Paul,
great composition creating huge amounts of depth. The alpine glow on the peaks in the background is magic. A very peaceful and calming scene, thanks you!
