A Meercat: for his eyes only!
A Meercat
Suricatta
For my friends of SA... and an intra-terrestial for Greg...

Taken at Granby Zoo.

A meerkat is not a cat, but is a suricate, a member of the mongoose family. (The name meerkat is the general Afrikaans term for mongoose.). Although they sometimes sit up like prairie dogs they are no relation. When stiffly sitting or standing in the exhibit, they are not begging, but are scanning for danger. Vocal communication consists of: murmuring (any activity); growling and spitting (offensive threat); clucking (scolding); peeping (guard's assurance that he's on duty); a clear drawn-out call (avian predators); waauk-waauk, a gruff warning call (ground predators); alarm bark (defiance); and a soft wurruck-wurruck (contentment).

Super shot of the Meercat Luc. Ah, what beautiful eyes he's got, and his fur is so real I feel I can reach out and touch him. Excellent portrait - THE BEST! Well done.

Very good detail capture in this shot. The meercat contrasts well with the background foilage. I like how he is slightly off centred also, Very good.

Yep, you can never go wrong with the Meercat Luc. Lovely capture with good eye contact, nice composition. Well done.

Luc,
A beautiful portrait of Timone the meercat.
Excellent composition and details.
Excellent work, I like the stars in his eyes.

Mike

Lovely capture my friend - so much charactor in those eyes. Wonder what he is thinking? Tim

It does look a lot like a mongoose.I have sometimes confused them
I wonder how a meerkat would handle a king cobra though?
Another spotless image,Luc. Just Perfect.

Bien belle photo Luc.

Mais si je peux me permettre... pourquoi les commentaires sont uniquement en anglais.
Il s'en trouve certainement quelques-uns qui apprécieraient !

I love this portrait Luc. What a sweet wee face! Excellent catchlight in the eye. Good close details. Tack sharp with fantastic light. And... he has been digging, look at the dirt on the end of the snout! Lovely shot. Thanks.

Beau portrait for this Meercat ! Comment les appelle-t-on en français ? Les deux petites étoiles dans les yeux sont jolies... Compliments Luc.

Hi Luc, this is beautiful. Such a soulful expression, I love it. Details, BG and colour are superb. Composition excellent. Wish it was mine! Brilliant :)

Oh my! This is so great.

Merci :-)

It looks like he has been digging. He has a little smudge of dirt on his nose...;-)
Interesting expression he has given you for this beautiful portrait.
Well done Luc!
Thanks,
Dave
