[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [Portuguese] |
Butterflies are the most popular group of insects. For long admired for their beauty and elegance, they have been colected throughtout centuries. There are around 200 thousand species of butterflies, but only 120 thousand are registered.
The main characteristic of the lepidoptera is given to the fact that they have uncountable scales that revolve the body and wings, which render them multiple patterns of collors. The word lepidoptera literally means "wings with scales". When they rest, the butterflies point the wings up.
The lepidoptera are classified in 2 groups, butterflies and moths. Generally speaking, the colorful ones, which flies during daylight are part of the first group, the ones with less appealing colors, which flies during night time, are part of the second group.
Butterflies feed on vegetables and nectar. They weight around 0.3 g but they can get to 3 g. They live better in tropical regions for the warm weather and plentiful food supply.

Très belle macro très profonde dans laquelle le papillon semble pénétré et très finement détaillée et très délicatement colorée.
