African Lion
(Panthera leo krugeri)

What type of animal? Mammal

Where does it live? Africa

What's it covered with? Fur

Natural habitat? Grassland

What does it eat? Meat

Lions are carnivores that live in prides and hunt and feed irregularly. The females do most of the hunting in the wild. They work in a team to flush and ambush prey, like zebra and springbok. Males eat first - hence the saying 'lion's share'. To simulate natural feeding patterns, the lions at Auckland Zoo are fed four times a week in a number of different ways. Even in the wild, lions sleep 90% of the time. Unlike other cats, big cats roar but can not purr. Small cats purr but do not roar..

.The male lion weighs 200kg on average or about 45 domestic cats! The mane protects his throat from attack; making him look bigger. The female weighs 150kg on average about 33 domestic cats!.

Cat facts:
Sprint speed - 60m/h - as fast as a racehorse!
High jump - 3m beats the human world record!
Long jump - 10m - as long as a row of 6 bicycles.
Roars - can be heard 10km away.
Life span - 20 years.

To me this just a little over bright and a little washed out. I don't think the original is over exposed as the fur detail appears to have kept detail in the highlight areas, so maybe a good play around in Photoshop "Levels" would sort this out. Image is also a little soft, again I feel a product of post processing rather then the original image.
