Looking through my archives I found this picture of a female Scarce Copper, which looked a little bit different from the other pictures I had taken before. Looking closely to the wings I discovered these white spots in a row on the hindwings, which lack on the other Scarce Copper. In my reference book they seem to be specific to the subspecies "montanus".
I hope that my ID is right.
These butterflies live mostly over 1700m.

Bonjour Anne,
A superb macro of a female L. virgaureae montanus taken from a fine POV with excellent sharpness to show the white spots on the hindwing that characterise this ssp. A nice fresh specimen too. I'm glad you took this one from your archives, even though this year's summer is soon upon us.

beautiful captured of this pretty butterfly with its wings wide open. The pattern and its lovely details are well seen. You composed it very well with the branch going across the corner, giving a good visual impact. you laso have make full use of the lighting that shines onto its beautiful hairy body.
