Hi guys and gals!!
This is my first bird-in-flight picture, so please don't laugh :).
You can smile only ;).
The bird is an ordinary scavenger Kite found everywhere in India.
I shot it in Jammmu in north India. It was a pot-shot try. I was on my first professional photo shoot and was busy shooting an old palace belonging to the Maharajas of Jammu & Kashmir (see Workshop) when I noticed many kites circling the building at slow speed. My face lit up with hope -- aha, there's is chance for a beginner here! Without bothering to change the lens from 18-200mm to 70-300mm, I looked upward and took a few pot-shots.
This is one of them.
The sky turned out to be a bit too light. There was noise on the wings which I tried to remove unsuccessfully with NeatImage. To make the sky a bit interesting, I used the vignetting filter #2 from PhotoScape editing software.

Thank you for looking at it, and even if you don't, it won't make much difference to you. :=).

Hello Ram,
Wonderful in flight capture.POV,colors, pose of bird in flight and composition are perfect. Thanks for sharing.
Best regards Siggi

Hi Ram,

Congratulations on your first in-flight image, yes it might be a little noisy but what a capture. This looks very much like our Whisterling Kites here in Australia, the thing that really impresses me is that you got the whole bird in the frame, my first attempts only reviled bits of the bird if I was lucky, most of the time I managed to capture some wonderful shots of an empty sky, you have nailed it first time, and it can only get better, enjoy the feeling, looking forward to seeing more, t.f.s

Cheers Rick :)

Hi Mr. Ram,
A nice capture of this kite in flight. Although this is a first one still it looks good. The main technique to capture birds in flight is panning and also the light. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Hi Ram.
My compliments and congratulations on first in-flight shot. You should make it and you have made it :). Very nice POV and wingspread of the bird. I also like vignette effect. Details and sharpness of the image is very good and noise is absolutely invisible. WS is perfect. Thanks for whole post as well as for original shot.

Hello Ram,
Not bad, for a first bird-flight picture! (I never tried until now). The flight is caught in an excellent pose of the bird, sharpness is good too. I just wonder, if you would have cut a little space at the left or on the lower part, the composition could be eventually better balanced. Just a suggestion :-)
Thanks. A nice evening too

Dear Ram Sir,
I appreciate the effort in clicking this kite almost vertical shot against day glare of sky. I am always amazed, we use goggles to cut down the glare; but what system these incredible birds have to protect them from glare...! TFS

Hard to believe that all these years you have not posted one in flight! An accomplishment which immediately draws my mind back to a photo I dedicated to your brother a long time back...Very good..and I wonder now if there shall be more once you have it started.

Hello Ram

Hello Sir,
congratulations on your first in flight picture. For your first attempt, it is very nice. With little practice I think you can come out with some amazing inflight pictures. :)
TFS & Regards,

Hello Ram, Congratulations on your first in-flight picture! Nice composition and POV.

Congratulations Ram!
This is a beautiful species taken inflight! like it very much the position!

Hy Ram
To shoot birds in flight is not easy, especially this raptors which are flying at high "altitudes". I’ve tried myself to capture some buzzards, but with no acceptable results. Maybe the quality of the picture is not excellent, but your first attempt is ok and you should try more.
