this photo is taken at a butterfly farm...i was fascinated by the way these two butterflies from different species could share and commune so well:)

The bigger of the two is called Raja Brooke (Troides brookiana),a distinctive black and electric-green birdwing butterfly from rainforests in Borneo and Maylasia; this butterfly is the national butterfly of Malaysia.

The wings are black and each forewing has seven teeth-shaped electric-green markings (the smaller hindwings are also black with green markings). Males have brighter markings than females.

The head is bright red and the body is black with red markings. The larval host plant is Aristolochia foveolata. Adults sip fruit juices and flower nectar.

Classification: Family Papillonidae, Subfamily Papilloninae. This butterfly was named by the naturalist Alfred R. Wallace in 1855, naming it for Sir James Brooke, the Rajah of Sarawak.

it took me a long time to find out the name of the smaller one, and i think it is The Blue Pansy (Precis orythia), found only in Malaysia.

i hope u guys like this shot.

The DOF and sharpness are excellent.

What I think could have iproved the picture would have been a flash from below to get more detail out of the Raja Brooke.

Thanks
Sam
