[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This male was doing his best to get the attention of a female that was flitting around. He turned this way, that way, puffed out his wings, but she would have none of it; her attention was on another male. I noticed the red patch on his wings was much deeper - and I figured that is what had her attention.

This fellow figured it out and flew at the other male several times in an attempt (I suspect) to drive him away. In the end, when the second male flew away, the female this particular fellow was trying to impress flew away with the other one.

No need to worry big guy, there are many females in your marshy area, just give it a chance!

I did run this photo through neat to take some of the noise out. Given the bright sunny day (oh, I love the orb that came back), I lowered the exposure so it wouldn't be too bright.

In the process of NEAT, this guy somehow popped; I'm not sure of how the process works, but I know I really liked the first version, but loved this one.

Please enjoy! Hope to be back later to do a few critiques.

Keep snapping!

Hi Kathy. Somtimes neat image is to harsh you can turn down how many % you use it which i am sure you know. This side view shows the red marking on the wing so well Which goes from orange to deep red. With rich colours. Well done TFS.

PS I hope you are getting use to your new home.

Hello Kathy
Perfect capture, I like colors and details.

Salutations from Catalunya (Spain):
Josep Ignasi.

Hi Kathy,

Great capture of the blackwing. I have not been able to get anywhere close to these guys. I suspect it took some patience to get this shot.
