Wasp on my Fatsia Japonica

|B>A Wasp Visiting my Fatsia Japonica|
Taking photos of the new flowers on my Fatsia Japonica I came across a lot of wasps landing on the flowers. There were quite a few and I am now suspicious that there might be a wasp nest close by.
Two years ago we had 2 wasp nests in our garden. The first my husband managed to kill all the wasps. The nest was underground, and it was easy to do. But we had to pay for a wasp-eradicator to come and kill the wasps and destroy the large nest they had built in a plant that had attached itself to one of our trees.
What is the venom that the wasp injects into you?
The principal component of venom is protein — it is the protein that causes allergy reactions in people. Several different proteins have been demonstrated in wasp venom, the total number and relative proportions vary among the different genera.
Other components of venom include an acetylcholine-like substance, histamine, serotonin, and kinin. Kinins are peptides that cause slow contractions of isolated smooth muscle, lower arterial blood pressure, and increase capillary permeability.
Those contents may sound heavy, but one thing is sure – the wasp sting is very painful.
Yes, it was hand-held, and there was a slight breeze too.

Nice capture... well framed macro image. Around these parts we call that bee a 'yellow jacket' but don't think I've ever seen it on a flower like that before. Usually we see them on fallen fruits and around garbage cans.
I should upload some bee images I took the other day. I got all new camera equipment (Canon 5DII + lenses + accessories) which included a Canon 100mm macro and I was trying it out with some flora imagery.
Ciao Janice, splendid composition with lovely wasp and fascinating flowers, fantastic colors and wonderful blurry BG, very well done, have a good week end, ciao Silvio

very beautiful light on this capture.
Nice colour composition on a soft background with fine details on the wasp and the white flowers.
We had more than a slight breeze yesterday. I was out taking images of flowers and I could not get them to stay still. I even took video. The bee may just be slightly out of focus, but that's OK. You're Janice exclamation. Well this microphone didn't understand the law"!" Which I am told that to do. That didn't work well either. My carpal tunnel is getting a bit worse so I am relying more on the microphone. Good show. Enjoy fall.

Excellent macro Janice!!
You've captured wonderful detail and color. The DOF is right on the money and the exposure is perfect as evident in the well exposed white flowers. You even managed to get a tiny fly in the photo!! Well done!! TFS.
