Hello my Friends!
After a scorpion picture today a short come back to reptile photos :>

Atlas Day Gecko (Quedenfeldtia trachyblepharus Boettger, 1873) (Gekkonidae).

Distribution: species endemic to Morocco where it is restricted to Atlas Mts. only.

Habitat: associated with montane rock faces and boulders, often close to water sources.

Activity: as the English name suggests, this species - in oposition to other Moroccan geckos, is active during day period

Size: up to 10-15cm

Conservation status: in the IUCN list placed in the Near Threatened category

Picture was taken in Mizun valley, elevation about 2500 m a.s.l, and present an adult specimen of this species (the young one soon :>).

And last but not least, I would like to dedicate this picture to our Friend and great herptile lover Horia (horia) :>

You have used your Coolpix to best effect with a fine pose, POV and excellent sharpness, lighting and composition.

Hi Radek and many thanks for your kind dedication for me :)

To find and photograph an endemic species is always something special, i know, because it's that feeling you have that you've seen a rare species with your own eyes and that you can afterwords show it to the world.
This is the case here, with this beautiful Atlas Day Gecko.
I haven't seen it before, even in photos, so your contribution is even more significant and your dedication even more valuable :)
The details are great and i really like the pattern on its scales a lot.
The typical gecko feet are well visible, too and the diagonal composition is well thought of.

Bravo, TFS and thanks again
Horia

Thanks for this rare sight indeed Radomir, a day gecko in its natural element displaying its superb camouflage capabilities. This sharp and well exposed image has a great taxonomical value my friend. Horia will love it, I'm sure...
Cheers,
Mehmet

Hi Radomir,
Another stunning gecko shot.
The dark to light colouration and the patterns are amazing, and remind me of an Escher drawing.
He also drew geckos in a few of his works.
A really great image.
Cheers & TFS
Steve

Czesc Radek!

Witam
Marx

Hi Radomir.
I am delighted how well you have reflected texture and coloration of the ground and reptile. It is superb. I also amazed with brilliant composition. Both you and lizard have done all perfectly. Bravo.

Hello Radomir,
A gecko with beautiful and special patterns on its back. The best way to be camouflages on rocks. Fine and natural-colored picture taken under harsh light probably.
Interesting note too. Merci!
Kind regards
Anne
