Oleander Hawk-moth Daphnis nerii

Edited Version after got the ID from Ivan & Bayram

Another moth that I seldom see. Usually I would see them in the morning. This is when they are abit dizzy, maybe due to light intensity.
this one flew right into my direction and rested on a bush nearby. It was early in the morning, so I used the flash.

The Oleander Hawk-moth Daphnis nerii (formerly Deilephila nerii) is a moth of the Sphingidae family.
Daphnis nerii is a large hawk-moth found in wide areas of Africa and Asia. It is a migratory species, flying to parts of eastern and southern Europe during the summer.
Feeding habits
The adults feed on nectar of a great variety of flowers. They have a preference for fragrant species like petunia, jasmine and honeysuckle. They are especially active in the twilight time, hovering over the flowers after sunset.

The caterpillars feed mainly on oleander (Nerium oleander) leaves, a highly toxic plant to which toxicity they are immune. They also may feed on most plants of the Apocynaceae family, as Tabernaemontana divaricata and Alstonia scholaris in India.

[edit] Life cycle
The new born caterpillars are pale blue. Their color changes to green as they grow. They have two spots resembling eyes on the forefront of their body.

The chrysalis is pale reddish or brownish-white and has a wax-like appearance. It lies direcly on the earth, under moss or dry leaves.

What a striking moth! The colours, textures and patterns are stunning. What a beautiful puzzle this would make. The different colour segments fit each other like a hand fits a glove. It has a smooth velvet appearance, and is really soft on the eye. A lovely image, full of pizzazz and grace, presented in a most favourable manner. Thanks for sharing. Best regards. Anna

Hi Foozi,

The moth on the leave is impressive. The close-up point of view is showing with precision the details and colors of the insect. The leaves are framing well the moth. The surrounding light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.
