Mute Swan ( Cygnus olor)

Along the berm at one of the water control dams at Loch Garry in Eastern Ontario.
ISO was 720
I used noise reduction to eliminate some of the speckle in the BG.

Spring

When daisies pied, and violets blue,
And lady-smocks all silver-white,
And cuckoo-buds of yellow hue
Do paint the meadows with delight,
The cuckoo then, on every tree,
Mocks married men, for thus sings he:
“Cuckoo!
Cuckoo, cuckoo!” O word of fear,
Unpleasing to a married ear.

When shepherds pipe on oaten straws,
And merry larks are ploughmen’s clocks,
When turtles tread, and rooks, and daws,
And maidens bleach their summer smocks,
The cuckoo then, on every tree,
Mocks married men, for thus sings he:
“Cuckoo!
Cuckoo, cuckoo!” O word of fear,
Unpleasing to a married ear.

Song, from Act V, Scene 2 of Love’s Labors Lost by William Shakespeare (1598)

Hi Wolf,

A beautiful Mute Swan portrait and even some Shakespeare to go along with it. I forgot it's Spring - feels like it should be the end of summer to me. The colors and details of the face, eye and beak are wonderful. Superb textures of the pretty feathers. I love the background and composition.

Nice PP work on a finely composed image. Perhaps it is the curve plus the neck shape and the way you have framed it which makes it so attractive!

I haven't seen swans in Quebec, isn't it strange? Maybe they are rare in Ontario too or it is warmer, I don't know. Anyhow, your portrait, once again, is superb with the exact exposure for the fine and beautiful neck of the swan. I love the details in the feathers, the beauty of the eyes and beak. Beautiful, Wolfie! By the way, I laughed at the poem by Shakespeare even though I don't understand everything but it is really funny!

Hi Wolf
Nice capture.
Great details and good clarity.
Congratulations!

Hallo Rob
This is a super sharp and really striking capture and you photographed it with skill. For me the greatest attraction is the black lining alongside the orange beak, and the little bit of light brown fluff in between the feathers on its head. The contours of the beak display well against your backdrop. A really beautiful portrait of this Mute Swan. Well managed exposure of the black feathers on the forehead. Thanks for sharing this lovely image and the poem as part of your notes. Best regards.

Hi Wolf,
Nice macro with some excellent colors.
Nice and contrast them.
Have a nice day,
Adrian

Hi Wolf,

The close-up view is showing the colors and the details of the head of the swan. The blurred background is putting in evidence the bird. The subject is well framed. The surrounding light has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.
