Brown Pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis californicus)

Here is another photo from Puerto Penasco, this time a Brown Pelican.

It lives strictly on coasts from Washington and Virginia south to northern Chile and the mouth of the Amazon River, as well as the island of Saut d'Eau in Trinidad and Tobago. Some immature birds may stray to inland freshwater lakes. After nesting, North American birds move in flocks further north along the coasts, returning to warmer waters for winter. Their young are hatched in broods of about 3, and eat around 150 lbs. of fish in the 8-10 month period they are cared for.

Hi Everton,

A beautiful and unusual shot of this Pelican in flight. You captured him in a wonderful pose showing off the wing, face, and fantastic beak. Nice natural colors and good details. I love the water with the marvelous waves. A beautiful ocean setting and composition. I wouldn't mind being there to escape this heat!

Wonderful picture with superb details ( also in the shadowy area ) love the sea as a BG and the directional space is pleasant

Hi Everton,
beautiful in-flight capture of this magnificent bird!
nice POV,

Hallo Everton
This is such a beautiful and most natural scene. The ocean in the background is a lovely backdrop and it shows this bird in its natural surroundings. The details of the waves captured is striking, especially the shine on the top part of it. The pelican itself is lovely and it surely has a prominent wingspan. The stripes formed by the different colours in the plumage are great to look at, and display well against the colour of the water. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
