Lamb and lion. Today was very good day. I was walking in Botanic Garden whole morning and witnessed many interesting things. First of all I saw courtship of crab spiders. Then I spotted this fellows. Bug on FG is Assasin bug - very dangerous predator in insects world. It has long and crooked beak which is used during sucking of its victims. Lamb on BG is another true bug - Graphosoma lineatum - typical herbivorous insect. I was very curious what will happen next, how lion will jump and suck its prey. After few seconds of contemplating Assasin bug showed white feather and left! What a dissapointment! I think red and black stripes sygnalise - I'm poisonous, don't touch me!

Sorry for quality of picture, but it was typical opportunity shot with no time for proper settings of camera.

And few words about the title:

The 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment's motto and slogan was named after him. In 1940, the night before their first mass jump, U.S. paratroopers at Fort Benning watched the 1939 film Geronimo, in which the actor playing Geronimo yells his name as he leaps from a high cliff into a river, depicting a real-life escape Geronimo successfully attempted in which he jumped off Medicine Bluff at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, into the Medicine Creek with his Cadillac horse. Private Aubrey Eberhardt announced he would shout the name when he jumped from the airplane to prove he was not scared. The trend has since caught on elsewhere, becoming widely associated with any sort of high jump in popular culture.

Hi Greg,
I love the pose you caught on the Assassin.
Great moment captured.
The bright colors of the insect make a nice contrast with the soft green BG. Great DOF!
TFS. : )

Hello Grzegorz,
Very interesting photo which shows this dangerous predator in action. Very good sharpness on it. I didn't know it can be find in Poland. I saw them in Greece hidden in flowers waiting for their preys (most of the time bees). Congratulations for this good scene! Catherine

the details are good and interesting, that is what counts, it may be not totally sharp, but it is still a good capture,
even more you had to take it quick, and the colors are amazing, especially the black and red is cool. nice job & take care, thor.

Hallo Greg
Absolutely delightful viewing pleasure has unfolded in front of my eyes upon opening your image. What a lovely “picture” Details of both the large insect and the flower buds is bright and clear and well displayed. Everything is just “pretty”. I really like the hairiness and the black and red long legs of the insect. It is well focused, sharp and the composition is lovely. An image that is presented in a most pleasant manner and which I enjoyed looking at. Kind regards and thanks for sharing.
Anna.

Hi Greg,
A nice capture of this assisin bug and the stripped beetle. Very well composed with sharp details especially on the assasin bug. Thanks a lot for sharing. I would also like to see the spiders courtshiping.
