Hello TN people!

This comment may seem very inexperienced, but is to be taken into account just got a little over 10 months, taking photographs, and many things still seem worthy of exploring and commenting.

I have enjoyed several days doing macro photography in difficult conditions (here in Venezuela we are in rainy season) and I really enjoyed being exploited to the limit my compact camera. With the light characteristic of these cloudy days, I have to play with ISO 200, where the usual is that I use 80 or 100 for my photos.

With ISO 200 makes it easy for me to use shutter speeds that are always above 1/100s, which I like to avoid limiting photos to be moved.

To provide even higher speeds, I had to change my usual openings F/4.0 and f/3.5 to f/2.8 maximum aperture which is allowing my Canon SX110. This has focused not so easy as before and I have to learn to make adjustments after the coupling of the approach. For this I enabled an option box extended auto focus camera that brings me. This can be observed in some area of the zoom focus and adjust the distance by moving my camera forward or back.

The public image is that of a Paper Wasp (Polistinae Mischocyttarus), quite common in our region. This is a rather large wasp (2 to 3 cm), which usually feed on nectar from flowers, so this feeds on the flower of a plant Oregano (Origanum vulgare).

In reality it is a beautiful wasp, with a very smooth and aerodynamic as well as beautiful colors in shades of red and black. But sometimes you do not like is photographed, and frankly there is to be careful, because occasionally you can attack the target of camera. In fact I would not want a wasp 3 centimeters, reaching a nail in his stinger out of my hands!

Conditions:

- Natural light, humid and overcast.
- Late afternoon, after 5 PM.
- Wind soft, about 5 km / h.
- Camera held in his hand.

Jesus

Hello Jesus,
This is a very good, sharp macro of this rather lovely wasp. You have done very well to capture it so clearly, and have made a very good composition. The background, especially if you look at the dark area to the left of the wasp, has quite a lot of small spots, which is noise that is rather distracting. You can get software, like Neat Image for example, that can help to get rid of this unwanted defect. I will make a workshop to show what can be done. Thanks.
Alan

Hi Jesus,

Another masterpiece from your CanonSX! The wasp with his mouth buried in the flower is wonderful. The colors are excellent and the details could not be sharper. Not only have you mastered your camera but you have a talent for beautiful settings and compositions.

Sterling macro of this beautiful Wasp with your compact camera, Jesus.
I like your note too for its content composed of your experimentation with the settings.
Apparently, you have done a great job here, going by the sharpness and richness of colours.

saludos

Hi Jesus.
To use extreme capabilities of the equipment is the most interesting thing. Your close-up is excellent. Subjects, colours. Exposure are precise. You have reproduced white petals and the most dark parts of the insect very well. Composition and POV are superb and note is perfect. TFS and all the best to you and your photo experiments in rainy weather.
Alexei.
P.S. Sorry, I cannot visit TN now because of my business.
