|These two black-chinned hummingbirds were not getting along! For some reason, each bird assumed the feeder was his, and therefore did not have to share.|
They dived each other, knocked one another off the feeder, spent time chasing each other away - all the while burning more energy could have been put to better use by agreeing to simply share the food.
They were like kids and I was reminded of the many times when my brothers and myself would 'tattle' or complain 'Mom, he/she touched me' followed by a slap (by mom...).
These hummers are graceful - but also extremely greedy! Had I been their parent, I would have made them touch wings for an hour while telling them to 'get over it' - but alas, their parent, I am not!
