[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Arabian Surgeonfish (Acanturhus sohal) can grow up to 40 cm length. They live on the outer edge of reef flats that are exposed to waves and surges between 0.5 to 10 meters depth. There youíll find them swimming around alone or in couples. The diet consists of algae and zooplankton. Itís only distributed in the Arabian and Red Sea. The species is very aggressive and is often seen chasing other fishes and even divers around the reef. The peduncular spine (bright orange, before the tail fin) is venomous and razor sharp.

Iíve been attacked a couple of times myself of this species and Iíve heard of people that been cut of it while walking in shallow water.

The picture is taken on 2 meters depth at the dive site Hamda. Itís been resized and cropped with PS otherwise itís left alone. No flash was used.

Odd picture, from the thumbnail I thought it was out of water and lying on it's side. But no. I must be looking a the inside of a wave in the right hand side. Great picture of the fish, detail and colour are very good.

Incredible light & shapness for 2 meters deep. It is very good to see all the scene underwater without flash, the colours are great!

Peter, this is another feather in your cap. Nice catch, great detail and light.
