|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|This is the last that I have seen of this year's first brood Commas (Polygonia c-album). The fine weather in June encouraged them to emerge a little early this year and this one has probably been flying for about 6 weeks. It was cool and overcast when this was taken and the butterfly was not very active.|
The picture, as most that day, was taken with fill-in flash and small aperture, maybe too small here as the wings are fairly flat. But the antennae remain sharp with the deep field afforded.

Nice shot of a slightly worn Painted Lady, as you say the flash and small aperture did not the greatest of jobs, that's the joy of wildlife photography, we have to take the good with bad. Nice diagonal composition.
