Thanks to cool weather, that agile mountain fritillary was quite cooperative. Resting on a blossom of Crepis aurea when clouds were covering the sun for a while it would allow me an extended close approach session in order to gain good details.

This is a superb capture both of selene and the crepis aurea flower, the to together well composed to make a fine image to view. The technical standard is very high and both the flower and butterfly as super fresh. A delightful shot and thanks for posting it.

Hello Peter,

A lovely shot of mountain fritillary butterfly!
The sharpness and POV are just ideally controlled and the DOF is well managed. The flower is so beautiful and also giving wonderful contrast to the light colors of this butterfly. I like the textures on the wings of the butterfly. The blurred BG is just awesome. Wonderful composition!

thanks and regards,
Paras Bhalla

Hello Peter,
What a shot! So sharp, with amazing colours. The light is well managed and the blurred background very nice. The upper side is very beautiful too. Cheers,

I can truly see why this was favorited. Technically it is a super quality shot without losing a bit of it's artistic quality. Very unique in a small way and just stands above!

Hello Peter,
A lovely view of the underside of B. selene showing great sharpness and natural colours. I really love the Orange Hawksbeard too that we find here although

Saludos: Josep Ignasi.

It makes a lot of sense that you save time by not putting your name, Peter, on these shots!
They simply scream your name from miles afar!
So different and so beautiful!
I love your individualistic style, which you've developed into an art itself!I would call that art "timing", and you're the master of that realm of photography, my friend!

Hello Peter,

Best regards

Lieber Peter,

Hi Peter and nice to see you back here again old friend :)
I hope you've been well...because i see you've been taking a lot of great photos :)
This picture here jumped out to me straight from your gallery! It's a combination of two very delicate and beautiful elements - a gorgeous flower and the lovely little butterfly.
The flower - the Crepis aurea - is one that i recall from my second year of college, when we all went on a trip to some mountains here. I think i still have some shots of it somewhere :)
The butterfly, on the other hand, is superbly captured and presented with impeccable details. The DOF is very well chosen and the side POV well picked, too.
Despite you not having the strongest light - being cloudy outside - you took great advantage of the natural saturation this brings to the colors and the result is a beautifully tones picture.
Overall, i'd say this is a top macro shot!

Bravo and TFS

PS: many thanks for your wonderful words to my photos, too. Much appreciated! :)

Hi Peter.
I am very touched with your amazing note and wishes and am amazed with highest range with this terrific shot. I cannot imagine better picture in all respects. Quality of the shot is outstanding. Breathtaking sharpness, details, texture and colour reproduction of the superb specimen of the butterfly and so wonderful flower. Despite I cannot see mountains on a BG ( : ) ), it is simply great too. My congratulations and Bravo.
