[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This grasshopper picture was taken on an abandoned industrial site in the the southern Ruhr-District in Germany. It's not a rare species. However, such sites often have a particular micro-climate allowing such species to live there which do not find adequate habitats in the surrounding.

The species shown here is
- Chorthippus biguttulus
- family: Acrididae

German: Nachtigallgrashüpfer
French: Criquet mélodieux

Species information
C. biguttlus belongs to a group of 3 very similar species. So, I am not 100% sure on the identity. This could also be Chorthippus brunneus.
C. biguttlus occurs in Europe and palaearctic Asia. The species prefers dry and warm habitats as is the case on the abandoned industrial site where I took the picture.
Body length: about 15 mm.

Conditions
- natural light
- ISO 200
- handheld

Hi Peter,
very beautiful presentation in superbs clarity. well composed in good diagonal composition.
I like soft blurry background that render a pleasant view of this insect.
i like to see the feelers as it is always nice to have it seen.

regards,
foozi

Hi Peter,

Wonderful macro capture of the grasshopper! Interestingly, I captured the same species too but I think yours is better one.
The sharpness and POV are just great with great involvement of the green branch which gives a feeling of the bridge. The diagonal placing the branch worked very well here. The blurred BG is nice too.
Great composition.

thanks and regards,

Hi Peter!

Very nice capture, with good details and fine lighting. I captured the same specie some weeks ago but haven't posted yet so you even helped me id'ing ;)
I captured mine on a rock surface so yours looks much more natural and better composition wise! Congratulations and TFS!
