[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I am stepping out of my comfort zone with capturing this little Tree frog and with identifying it. Although I like to see animals, it is not often that I take photos of them. Or, they must be more then willing to pose for me. This little fellow was more then happy to sit still and show his best side to me. I am not fully certain if this is the Pacific tree frog, but the information I found on the Internet does give me some certainty. I am sure that somebody will correct me if I am wrong.

Anyway, I took this photo while on a stroll through the forest of the Gahr Farm Nature reserve. I wasn't really expecting to make any photos, but decided to bring my camera just in case. We came upon a more open area that was rather wet. At first we just walked by it but then I noticed one little creature sitting on a leave. Soon after I spotted a few more and had to decide which one was best to capture without using a tripod. This fellow was the easiest choice.

Hello Niek
great capture with fine details on the little frog. Beautiful soft green background giving depth to the photo for excellent contrasts. Interesting game of reflex on the tree frog with excellent focusing.

Hi Niek. It looks like yoou are having a good time in the USA. It always best to have a camera ready as you did when you took this little one. Taken from a good POV so we can see the frog from the top. Good detail and natural colour. I would think they are easy to miss. well done TFs.

Hello Niek,
Green frog on green leaf in green surrounding.
Excellent composition.
Excellent sharpness.

Well this was unexpected. I can usually spot your images at a glance in the gallery. It is really a well managed photo. The color is perfect as is the DOF. The range of values looks perfect too... even on MY monitor. (actually I'm using my laptop. I'll have to see how it compares to the MacPro). It is a very pleasing image...just fun to look at.

Nice work!

Hi Niek

Ooo...you really are "out of my comfort zone" :))
As T.L. (i was allowed to use that, too) already said, it took a while for me to realize that this is your shot in the Gallery :)
However, it is simple lovely. I think you are right with the id on the frog, but i'm not really an expert in North American fauna. Anyway, i really like the natural look of the entire scene - and especially the natural, relaxed look of the frog. I've seen tens of tree frogs here in Europe and they have the exact same posture when they just rest in they camouflage.
You depicted that very well and and used a good DOF to focus the entire attention on it.
Composition-wise it looks great, exposure-wise, spot-on.
Overall...not so much of your comfort zone and you'd think ;)

Bravo and TFS

Hi Niek,

Magnificent photo, beautiful shades of green, with a frog full of detail and in a pose really "beautiful". Excellent brightness and an impeccable background. Good job!

It has a bit of a lonely appearance to it..as though it awaits something..there is mood here Niek....and by the way green remains a very passive and relaxing colour!

Hi Niek,
I think you have missed your calling as a "critter" photographer.
This little frog is exquisite.
Beautiful colors and details.
He certainly did show you his best side. A great POV.
I like your composition as well.
TFS. : )

Hola Niek,
un buen encuadre y bien enfocado el motivo. Consigues que toda nuestra atención se centre en el batracio. Buena luz también e interesante gama de verdes.
Un saludo y buena semana: Josep Ignasi.

Hi Niek,
your landscapes are splendid but i refer to talk about this frog shot.
This one delivered some exciting and interesting lelement to me. The lone frog in the green and its hues is very calm and peaceful. iyt goes into the heart the moment you look at it. The beauty of mild light on its body with soft shine indeed very captivating. The blurry cloudy background render a good feeling and the only beautiful focus is the frog, at the rule of the third.
Well thought and excellent presentation.

Hi Niek!

Frogs are not what I usually call 'nice' but you captured this one in a way that makes it look so, with nice colors and details. Dof is also perfect. TFS!
