Held in Mother Nature's Love
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|Yesterday morning before it became way too hot, I managed to capture this butterfly resting in the center of this flower. I was reminded of how we cradle babies in our arms and in my mind, this flower was doing the same.|
Mother Nature is an awesome force (Is that why nature is always referred to as a she?) and it is both violent and gentle, much like our own internal aspects.
In this instance, I saw Her cradle this butterfly as if she knew it needed a rest.
True, Nature has her wily ways with hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, and so on, but when we see the adverse affects of her, how easy it is to forget the fierce protectiveness of a mother concerning her young.
I've had birds fly at me, deer skitter away with youngsters in tow, and mother birds nuzzling her offspring with affection.
In human nature there is extreme, so why should this be any different. As I watched this moment, something stirred within my soul; it took several minutes for me to identify that feeling. Contentment, what a peaceful feeling.
May all of you have moments of contentedness this weekend, stay safe, and enjoy what Nature will offer you.

A beautiful image Kathy,
Super sharp detail and gorgeous colors, almost has a 3D effect to it. Love the way the lighting seems to illuminates the right wing.
Your right!! the butterfly looks as if it is resting in the cradled arms of the petals. Great work!!
Great capture of this beautiful butterfly.
Nice colours with excellent detail.
Lighting and composition are good.
