A new hoverfly to add to my collection of Hoverflies of Belgium...

Xanthogramma pedissequum (Harris, 1776)
Family: Syrphidae

Xanthogramma pedissequum is a small hoverfly (10-12mm length), which fly from June to mid-September. Its larva feeds on aphids.

Some characteristics of this species:
• clear yellow stripes on the thorax
• narrow brilliant lemon stripes on the pure black abdomen
• yellows legs except 3, dark apices of hind femora
• dark patches on leading edge of wings
