Hello all,

Here is my first post for a long time.

I will do my best to be more present on TN in the future...

Personally I really like those pictures filled with atmosphere.

Here the mist was present on Carbonneau's marsh early in the morning giving a special light all around this Great Blue Heron looking like an hermit.

I hope you like it :-)

Cool Facts

The white form of the Great Blue Heron, known as the "great white heron," is found nearly exclusively in shallow marine waters along the coast of very southern Florida, the Yucatan Peninsula, and in the Caribbean. Where the dark and white forms overlap in Florida, intermediate birds known as "Wurdemann's herons" can be found. They have the bodies of a Great Blue Heron, but the white head and neck of the great white heron.

Although the Great Blue Heron eats primarily fish, it is adaptable and willing to eat other animals as well. Several studies have found that voles (mice) were a very important part of the diet, making up nearly half of what was fed to nestlings in Idaho. Occasionally a heron will choke to death trying to eat a fish that is too large to swallow.

Great Blue Herons congregate at fish hatcheries, creating potential problems for the fish farmers. A study found that herons ate mostly diseased fish that would have died shortly anyway. Sick fish spent more time near the surface of the water where they were more vulnerable to the herons.

Bonjour Michel,
Formidable lumière pour cette image de ce grand Héron bleu. Parfaite composition décentrée et beaucoup d'atmosphère, comme le promet le titre de ton image. Très beau!
Meilleures salutations

Hi Michel,
early morning mist and backlight are providing dense atmospheric beauty in this well composed documentation.
Interesting to realize that those colours from the "warm" range of the spectre do make me feel the early morning's cold. From the thumbnail I even thought of seeing a winter scene.
Thank you! With best regards,

P.S.: Nice to see you back, Michel! Thank you also for visiting my recent posting with friendly comments.

Hallo Michel
Thanks for sharing this beautiful "Picture filled with atmosphere". This photo is jam packed with awesome detail, features and awesome mood, and to describe an image as beautiful as this is actually time wasting, as only word is needed Gorgeous. The arrangement of soft but warm colours is very striking, and the feeling of mystic is noticeable. I enjoyed the sight. The light captured is splendid and really add some extra oomph to this super image. Thanks for sharing. Kind regards

Hi Michel,
I like them too. Your heron looks elegant, lovely and misty here :o)
All the best,

Hello Michel,

I really like this composition, and the mist coming off the water is an excellent finishing touch.

Hi Michel,
I love the mood in this photo. It makes an ordinary photo of a Heron into something special. Nothing beats soft warm light and some fog.
The composition with the odd shaped trees and the heron positioned off center is perfect.
Did you make the Heron lighter in your PP work? There is a fair amount of noise visible on its body.

Bonsoir Michel,
