Funny picture! I hate these insects and I never would have suspected that you have these creatures in your plate:-). I think it's an excellent idea to present them to us. And as usual your picture is well taken.

great composition with good details and beautiful colour of the insect
i like this insect, there are so many differend species and so beautiful of colours
i have in my house a terranium with some insect (walkingsticks and millipedes and also some cockroach - walking leafs and more grasshoppers )

a clever way to catch student's attention!

The photo would improve, if the exposure was measured on the cockroach instead of the fork i.e. the light on the animal; it would show more details of the roach...

Ehuehue:) A very different subject from you MF Radek. But an insect:> which also a biochorical agent (like vectors) of some parasitic diseases, such as an dysenterical amoeba Entamoeba histolytica cysts which can be found in sewers.. ighhh:>

Hello Radomir,
Very funny, but informative!
Good macro of a type that is not really encouraged on TN, as you know, but IMHO it is a useful contribution and this Periplanata is well shown with fine detail.
When I was in school many years ago both Periplanata americana and Blatta orientalis were used for dissection. Cockroaches have also come up in our news as they appear in badly maintained flats that are neglected by the local councils.

Wow, I just got up and was about to eat my breakfast, but I guess I'm not so hungry anymore, now ! :-) This is undoubtedly an unusual picture here on TN, but I love it ! So funny and disgusting in the same tim ! You really managed to bring out awesome details on the insect, and I also like the composition of the shot, and the fact that you have also included the fork. Exposure was well-managed. Very well done !

Hi Radomir,
a good joke, including the title alluding to Julia Childs! When we were living in Texas we used to have those big and ugly smelling Periplaneta americana at home in the kitchen. The "exterminator" had to come to bring relief. Alors, bon appétit mon ami!

Hello Radomir,
A fine view of a Cockroach that apparently is becoming more common in Sweden!! I had a huge Cockroach in my bed once in Delhi, but luckily I'm not that scared of insects although this species is not very pleasant!! I've seen some tiny ones in Gambia too and would certainly not be able to distinguish the different species.
