This is the Lac Cornu (which means "lake with horns" in English), which is located nat far away from the Black Lakes that you can see on my previous post. We have visited both lakes on the same day. After taking the cable car of Brévent, we hiked approx. 1h50 to arrive at the Lac Cornu. We ate here - imagine, eating in such a fantastic landscape, this is one meal you won't ever be able to forget ! To be honest, I had much problems eating, because I had to keep the camera in the hands and to take pictures every now and then. I think I have not far from hundred pictures from this lake. After the Lac Cornu, we went even further to the Black Lakes, but this story you can read if you watch my previous pictures.

The Lac Cornu is at 2400 m atlitude approximately. It is covered in swow and ice during 9 months in the year - must be great to ses this landscape covered in snow, I guess - but when we visited, it was the end of summer and no snow. It really deserves his name, as its shape really looks like two horns. You cannot see it on this picture, because the rocky slope in the FG hides the second "horn", but I have included a WS picture to show you the shape of the lake better.

One of the horns is 18 meters deep, the other one 20.

When the sky is blue, the water of this lake are an amazing gorgeous blue color as well - unfortunately, we had clouds and fog so we didn't see that either.

On my picture about BLack Lakes, Niek (SunToucher) said he would have liked to see a human on the picture, to have an idea of the scale. I don't want to show a picture with hikers on it, but let's just say that if a human was on this picture, he would be so small you could barely see a tiny spot on the picture. The lake seems quite small, from here, but it was huge.

I hope you like this picture,

hello Valerie
very beautiful landscape, with fine DOF,very good output in the greatness of mountain range
TFS thanks for sharing

Excellent image. A beautiful landscape. Unfortunately in January I had so much time to manage to visit in May and the lake. It's a challenge now.

Hi Valerie

Wow...you traveled to some really fantastic locations!
Great to see such amazing shot from there and this one here is indeed a true beauty!
The perspective seems endless and the lake in the foreground acts very well as a focal point. As Niek and you mentioned, the scale here is very tricky - to me too it seemed like very small before reading your note :)
Even so, the place is breathtaking and i really enjoy watching your lovely photos from it.
Good depth, exposure control and post processing here.

Bravo and TFS

You've framed this shot very well, indeed, Val! Till here, your French Alps don't look very different from our Himalayas!
The layers of mountains look superb and the light is perfect!

Hello Valerie..
An exciting landscape from high point of view with nice natural surround.. very well done..
Best regards

Hi valerie,
indeedd a beautiful composition of an outstanding landscape. the hues and layers of the distant mountains so brilliant and captivating.
Everything is so peaceful and calm. what a breathtaking view and you have gone to a wonderful place.

Hi Valerie,
You must had a blast beeing this high up the mountains and having such a view. The position of the lake is very interesting, as if it could spill over any minute. The hazy distant look is stunning and you did good not to include too much of the sky.

What lovely structure this photograph has Valerie. I love the interest the layers in the background create.

Hi Valerie.
Once more very impressive view and picture. You managed to reflect the beauty of the mountains, small lakes superbly. I like contrast between FG (sharpness and details as well as colouration are amazing) and covered by light haze remote hills. Well done and TFS.
P.S. I am amazed with new photo at your intro. Good luck, charming baby.
