[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Upon capturing this Gray Pansy butterfly , I used the most difficult lens ever. Though I bought it quite cheap, it is really difficul as it is meant for 100% manual camera. ( I did not know it earlier).
The f-stop reading is not correct I think too.
But it gives a good shot if you have patience and luck.

Gray Pansy
The Gray Pansy is a species of nymphalid butterfly found in South Asia.
Upperside of both sexes pale lavender-brown, apical half of wings paler. Fore wing: cell with, three transverse, short, sinuous black bands, the outermost defining the discocellulars ; a similar short, somewhat broader band beyond apex of cell; two transverse discal dusky black fasciae, the inner highly sinuous and outward!} angulate above vein 4, the outer straighter, somewhat lunular. bordered by a series or" whitish ovals with dusky or black centres : the black-centred spots in the ovals in interspaces 2, 5 and 6 margined posteriorly with rich ochraceous yellow. Beyond this series of ovals is a lunular, narrow, transverse dark band, followed by sinuous subterminal and terminal broad dark lines. Apex of wing slightly fuliginous. Hind wing ; a short slender black loop from veins 6 to 4 at apex of cell-area ; two discal sinuous transverse dark, fasciae in continuation of those on the fore wing: followed by a series of dark-centred ovals in interspaces 2-6, the ovals in interspaces 2, 5 and 6 with the dark centres inwardly broadly bordered with ochreous yellow; postdiscal, subterminal and terminal dark lunular lines as on the fore wing.

Melastoma malabathricum
Local names:- Singapore rhododendron,Straits rhododendron, Senduduk

Native to tropical Asia, Madagascar, India to Australia. Common in open places, always flowering. Species very variable. Greek- melas (black) stoma (mouth), from the berries blackening the tongue. This is a weed found wild in abandoned clearings, waste ground, disturbed sites. An evergreen shrub, up to 2 m tall. Its minute seeds are dispersed by birds and water. forms dense thickets in pastures and rangelands

Always flowering, the fruit a berry-like capsule with numerous seeds coated with red, sweet astringent pulp. Young leaves are eaten raw or cooked and taste sour. The pulp around the seeds are tasteless and can be eaten. The seeds are used to produce a black dye, the roots -a pink dye. Leaves has multiple uses. Can be fed to silkworms, used to treat diarrhea and dysentery, wash for ulcers, to prevent scarring from smallpox and to treat piles.

Hi Foozi,

The use of a tripod help you to get a good picture of the butterfly. The macrow view is showing the details and colors of the Gray Pansy butterfly on the flower. The butterfly is clear and sharp. The morning light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Pierre
