Eupeodes luniger (Meigen, 1822)
Family: Syrphidae

Eupeodes luniger is a common hoverfly of Europe of 8mm long. It has a black "Y" on the frons and comma-shaped markings on T3 & T4 which don't reach the edge of the abdomen (On female E. corollae, it reach edge of abdomen).

The flower is a Sweet scabious (Scabiosa atropurpurea L.), family Dispacaceae.

Hi Catherine. This is a fine close up of the Hoverfly on the rich coloured flower. Taken with sharp focusing and fine detail. I like the plain BG. well done TFS.

What an extraordinary viewpoint Catherine, which enabled you to capture all of the visible parts of the hoverfly in sharp focus and perfect exposure, not only the fly but also the flower in beautiful purplish tones. TFS this fine image my friend.

A fine macro of the female of this species (you can see by the spaced eyes) of hoverfly taken with superb sharpness and DOF from this frontal POV and nicely composed on the Crison Scabious flower.

such a great moment well captured. You have delivered a lovely view with the fly stopping at the beautiful flower. I like the colours of the flower that complement and enhance the beauty of the well detailed fly.
