The wild Chokecherry is often considered a pest, as it is a host for the tent caterpillar, a threat to other fruit plants. But that would be around gardens, in which this one was not. Often it forms dense thickets of woody growth. In this case it formed, and more than likely has been forming for many years near Fish Lake, on Department of Natural Resource, Land which is held by the state for future NON use. In other words it is protected nearby as a part of the edge of a natural lake and a wetland. I have had a rather good day so I went out to Fish Lake and was all alone in the quite morning. I caught this bunch of chokecherries about 2 hours after sunrise with the sun backlighting the branch.

I like how the top left corner of strong light gives way to the striking red berries in this fine choice of use of light and the closest berries are sharply in focus. Taken today when you have bright autumn sunshine while we have had steady rain all day:(
So this is cheering to view.
Thanks Bob!

Hello Bob,
The sun rays really illuminate these beautiful Chokecherries. Nicely composed with wonderful detail and beautiful natural colors.
Good to hear that you are up and about on these last few fall days. The weather might soon put a hamper on us, as the inevitable snow lurks just around the corner.

Hi Bob
A fine capture with the sunlight adding mood to the Autumn atmosphere...TFS

Hi Bob!

You present us a particular and very special picture. The bright red colour of the berries contrasts nicely with the green and yellow tones of the vegetation that is branded by the autumnal season. And I notice another interesting contrast: the bright light, symbol of life, with the dead leaves...

Kind regards

Well, I must admit that I love "contre-lumiere" nature shots and certainly this one is not an exception Bob, suns rays finely illuminated those translucent red berries to a perfection in shadows, producing a splendid back-lighted effect plus eye popping colours... TFS this beautifully captured scene my friend.

hello Bob

my old friend in TN, i am happy to see new photos from you,
excellent autumnal shot with the play of one side the shadow
and the other side the sun's light, fine POV, superb focus
to the foreground with excellent sharpness and details, TFS

Ciao Bob, fantastic light on splendid fruits, wonderful colors too, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hello Bob,

Hello Bob,
A very original point of view for this picture reflecting so well the autumnal atmposphere. I like a lot the fact that you included the sun-rayes appearing in the left corner. Very special shot, indeed.
I hope you and your wife are well and send kind regards

I keep wondering why these so called pets have either beautiful flowers or fruit, Bob!
And I also wonder how you manage to get the light to behave like you want it to!
Awesome shot!

Great use of the light Bob, the photo is beautifully contrasted and the way you lit and framed it means the sharply focussed Chokecherries demand all the attention, as they rightly should.
